With more than 9.400 submissions from 92 countries and a total attendance of about 14.900 festival goers over 20 consecutive editions, Magma is one of the main short film festivals in Italy.
The Jury
A judging panel made up of cinema experts gives the Lorenzo Vecchio Award and special mentions to the films of the International Competition standing out for their qualities.
Lorenzo Vecchio Award
Named after the creator of Magma, who died at the age of 23, the FestivalGrand Prix is awarded by the Jury to the best short film of the festival.
International Competition
The best of the short format from all the five continents.
Festival Partner
A contribution to the distribution and visibility of new cultural products beyond national boundaries: a network of contacts for the direct exchange and sharing of experiences and remarkable works across Europe.
Magma Debut
A new competitive section, devoted to international directors making their debut in the long format.

Con 20 edizioni consecutive alle spalle, più di 9.400 cortometraggi provenienti da 92 paesi e circa 14.900 presenze in sala, Magma è uno dei principali festival di corti in Italia.
Premio Lorenzo Vecchio
Il riconoscimento assegnato dalla giuria al miglior cortometraggio del festival prende il nome dall’ideatore di Magma, scomparso a 23 anni.

Una giuria di esperti del settore valuta i cortometraggi, assegnando il Premio Lorenzo Vecchio e le menzioni speciali ai film del Concorso Internazionale che si sono distinti per le loro qualità.

Insula – Impressioni di Sicilia
Una selezione di cortometraggi ambientati in Sicilia o diretti da registi siciliani che raccontano di un’isola attraversata da molteplici contraddizioni.

La fruizione del cinema tra i giovani costituisce un momento fondamentale per il loro arricchimento culturale e personale: a loro sono dedicate lezioni-conferenza e proiezioni specifiche.
Festival Partner
Un contributo alla circolazione di prodotti culturali al di fuori dei confini nazionali: un network che permette lo scambio e il confronto diretto di esperienze e opere rappresentative da tutta Europa.
